The Grower’s Choice Wedding

Wedding flowers can hold different meanings and priorities to different couples.  I’ve had couples tell me that their wedding flowers are the most important part of their day and some that care more about the reception flowers than the bridal bouquet.  Others know exactly what they want down to the names of the foliages and others who have no idea what color palette will look good with the bridesmaids dress color. And a lot of brides, know what they like but don’t know what the names of the flowers are to describe them.  All of these scenarios are completely ok and all of these couples have been a joy to work with.  Wedding flowers can sometimes feel complicated or even overwhelming, but they don’t have too.  Find yourself a vendor whose work you love and who can meet you where you are at in your wedding flower journey.

Here at Black Dog Flower Co, we do wedding flowers two ways.  Firstly, we do weddings anytime of the year, you tell us what you love and we create a plan together.  You choose your colors and vibe and we build arbors and green up tents.  If your wedding is during the growing season, we buy seeds based on your color palettes, we reserve our dahlias especially for your wedding day, and we succession plant sunflowers to bloom for your event.  We order what we can’t grow from our trusted wholesale sources.  We do everything in our power to bring your vision to life and we even field plan with your specific wedding flowers in mind.  Wedding florists take a lot of time planning and curating these beautiful events.

The second way we do flowers is what I want to focus on here today.  The second option is a ‘Grower’s Choice Wedding Flower’ option.  This option is for any couple getting married Late June through September; as long as the flowers are blooming I can most likely accommodate you. It’s especially great for couples who are easy going about color choices and want GORGEOUS real healthy flowers.  These flowers are growers' choice with a choice of three palettes to choose from; whites/lights/and neutrals, summer brights, and moody jewel tones.  I bet if you asked really nice, I could even take color requests; I grow A LOT of flowers. (Also, just something quick to note; I am a majorly biased proponent of using REAL flowers for your wedding, particularly the bridal party bouquets. Your wedding photos, which you presumably paid a lot of money for, will look amazing for a lifetime. But I digress.)  Another major bonus about this option is that it is quite a bit more budget friendly than the full service option.  Let me explain why.

If you are having a small wedding and aren’t too particular about your colors, I can most likely head out to the field with a couple buckets and cut the absolute best of what is blooming that go with your favorite color palette. I can design a luscious and unique wedding bouquet, boutonniere, and a few other pieces without: spending time ordering flowers and building recipes, picking up flowers from a wholesaler, or having the flowers I ordered come in sub par or the wrong color.  The bonus for brides and grooms is that you get incredibly fresh flowers, unique design, and full lush hand tied bouquets for a lower price because you have virtually eliminated stress and time from my job.  When I get to pay myself for the BEAUTIFUL flowers I grow and cut out in my field, instead of paying money to someone else, the savings gets passed on to you as well.

Something else extremely important to note about our Grower’s Choice Wedding option is that you are getting organically grown flowers, grown right here in your local community.  These flowers aren’t flown in, they are not sprayed with loads of chemicals and pesticides, and their life has been part of a super healthy ecosystem. Added bonus…you can put them on your cake without those added chemicals!  Your flowers are not just a product of our land, but they are helping improve it by feeding and sustaining so many beautiful pollinators, birds, and even our soil life. Basically, you are a hero in the eyes of the honey bees and butterflies, and mine too.

Lastly, I should note that this wedding option is for pick up only Monday through Friday during the growing season.  If you’d like to book this option, the best thing to do is send me an email or fill out the wedding form on the website and I’ll make sure I can accommodate your date, as we do have a couple days off for vacation during the summer.  Once we have established your date is a go, you are good to go online and order what you need for your wedding.  It’s a super simple process for us both.

I’ll end with this…designing weddings with what I grow is my passion.  I hope I can service more couples, more weddings, and more love this coming season with the flowers we grow.  Whether you are a full service or grower’s choice wedding couple; your love for our flowers helps us sustain so many good things.  In return, I hope I can make your wedding flowers the stuff that floral dreams are made of.

If you or someone you know is getting married, please feel free to pass along my name or this blog or the website to them.  Talking about wedding flowers is one of my favorite things to do!

All the best,

Dana
